Library and Information Science department was formally established for the first time in country level in 1390 by Sir Ziaurahman Banouri in Literature and Human Sciences Faculty of Laghman University, which was recommended by researcher Zalmai Hewadmal in the opening process of the university.

 Library and Information Science department is a great and valuable source of spreading and saving information and knowledge globally. And plays role in the expansion of national culture, policy and history of a country. Caring and protection goal of the National Identity can be saved. It is a valuable department.

Book and writing protect social and national strategic issues, thus, Library and Information Science department of Laghman University is created to backup caring and protecting of these goals.

According to the curriculum, the department continues for four years, after the completion of eight semesters’ examinations and writing the monographs and its defense, students can achieve diploma and transcript. With this degree and transcript students can continue their post-graduate studying inside or outside of the country.

Mission:

Library and Information Science Department is honored to train students professionally, regarding to library and information, which will be able to tackle the problems regarding library in the country, and provide quality services in library, using electronic and non-electronic devices.
