Vision:
Professionally training the students as well as strengthening the scientific and research skills of the students to conduct a basic and scientific research on plant protection at the country and regional level.
Mission:
Training of professional Staff to identify plant diseases and plant pests and conduct research to prevent them in order to reduce damage to plant products and create a sustainable agriculture.
History of Plant protection department:
The Department of Plant Protection is one of the important departments of the Agriculture Faculty. which was approved in the framework of Laghman University's Faculty of Agriculture in 1393 H.S. In 1396, the Ministry of Higher Education changed the teaching system of the Faculty of Agriculture from classical to credit based on the need, so the credit system was also applied in this department.
Aims:
- Discovery of new plant protection techniques and their practical interpretation to prevent losses of plant products.
- Introduction of agriculturally beneficial insects and pathogens and production of biological control agents to minimize pesticide use on agricultural crops.
- Conducting important research on bio-control to discover new bio-control methods and safe, practical and economical methods of plant management.
- To study the biotic, mesobiotic and non-living factors and causes of plant diseases.
- To study the relationship between the plant, pathogen and environment as well as the mechanism of development of the disease caused by the pathogen.
- Conducting research to find a specific chemical to control a specific pathogen or pest.
